Biography

Pamela Joann Christensen is a Saint Paul based painter intrigued by the timeless human impulse to visually create.  In her roles as artist, art tour guide, administrator, and neighbor Pamela has worked passionately to help others find how art can enrich their life.

Pamela's contemplative paintings seek to connect the human impulse to create with the current moment in time.  Pamela’s evocative water media paintings are spontaneous and appear to be in motion.

Pamela’s recent paintings are often presented in customized installation groupings.  In recent works, Pamela is extending an image over multiple panels extending to 3 – 8 feet wide.  In other works, Pamela presents images in close groups to be interpreted as an installed piece.  Recent exhibits of Pamela’s work include: 2022: Brookview, Golden Valley, MN; Two Harbors Library, Two Harbors, MN, solo; 2019: WARM Spring 6, The Show Gallery Lowertown, Saint Paul; WARM Hysteria, Larson Art Gallery, U of M, juried; 2018: The Kenwood, Minneapolis, solo; and

Pamela has led tours at the Weisman Art Museum for nearly 20 years.  She skillfully encourages museum guests to explore their own passions in artist expression.  She is particularly interested in introducing teens and adults in varied professional pursuits to find how to integrate art into their lives.  Pamela is a member of a select group of guides that provide art tours as a part of the graduate medical sciences program at the University.  She has also served for over three years on a committee of Twin Cities’ art museum educators and guides working to expand their skills and the visitor experience.
